Mike Krack expects Aston Martin to challenge for wins in future

Mike Krack, the head of the Aston Martin, believes that in the upcoming seasons, his team may become a regular presence on the podium.

Grand preparations were laid out when the Aston Martin moniker returned to Formula 1 for the 2021 season after Lawrence Stroll’s consortium acquired a stake in Aston Martin in 2020. This led to the rebranding of his Racing Point team. A five-year strategy was devised with the goal of achieving title success, but we are currently in the second year of that journey and have made little progress, if any at all.

The British team struggled in 2021, finishing ninth in the Constructors’ Standings with their new driver pairing of Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll. The year 2022 has not fared much better—in fact, it has gone worse. In the first 13 races of the season, Stroll and Vettel have scored a total of 20 points, with Vettel’s P6 in Baku being their best result.

He told the club’s website, “In the future, I envisage Aston Martin F1 as a team where success is the norm. “I see a squad that isn’t startled to be winning races or to be on the podium.

“We must get to the stage where we consistently produce outstanding outcomes on the track while also having faith in our capacity to do so.

“We’re talking about creating a winning culture here, and that takes time. First, though, we need to construct a faster car. Although there may be difficulties along the way because our journey has only just begun, Aston Martin F1 has an unrivalled spirit of perseverance that was formed from the devotion of our team members. I’m really proud to be a member of this team.”

“Signing Fernando is a clear expression of intent for Aston Martin F1. We are not on the grid making up numbers. We’re here to succeed. To have a driver of Fernando’s calibre believe in the Aston Martin F1 project is an enormous tribute to our team and the work we are doing as we make our way to the top of the grid.”

In addition to hiring people like former McLaren Racing CEO Martin Whitmarsh, former Red Bull aero chief Dan Fallows, and Krack himself, Aston Martin has invested in a new wind tunnel, factory, and technology.
